An apparatus (100) and method (200) of controlling the delivery of therapeuticgas delivered to a patient (1) undergoing positive airway pressure therapy isdescribed. The method includes providing a flow of gas to a patient~s airwayat a pressure, obtaining information from the range of 0 to 25 Hz of thefrequency domain of the flow, and adjusting the pressure based on theinformation. The apparatus includes a blower (15) for providing a flow of gasto a patient~s airway at a pressure, a sensor (11) to measure a characteristicof the flow, a controller (9) to obtain information from the range of 0 to 25Hz of the frequency domain of the characteristic, and a pressure regulator foradjusting the pressure based on the information.
