A nonwoven material having therein a discontinuous three dimensional deformation therein forming a protrusion extending outwardly from a first surface of the nonwoven material and a wide base opening adjacent a second surface of the nonwoven material Is disclosed. The nonwoven material is made of at least two layers including at least a first nonwoven layer and a second nonwoven layer. A portion of the fibers in each layer forms an undeformed first region, a sidewall of the protrusion, and a portion of the distal end of the protrusion.
