Disclosed is a synergistic surfactant composition, miscible with a herbicidal formulation, wherein the surfactant composition comprises from about 18 - 70 percent by weight (as active surfactant content) of at least one principal surfactant selected from the group comprising alkylpolyglycosides, and from about 3 - 14 percent by weight (as active surfactant content) of at least one secondary surfactant selected from the group comprising alkylbetaines and alkyl(amidoalkyl)betaines, wherein the ratio of alkylpolyglycoside surfactant to alkylbetaine or alkyl(amidoalkyl)betaine surfactant is from about 3:1 to 40:1 by weight of active surfactant.
