A delivery device (100) for deploying an expandable prosthesis and method ofuse thereof are described. The deliverydevice includes an outer sheath (1200) that is capable of retracting in aproximal direction and resheathing over the prosthesisin a distal direction. The device includes a drive pulley (901) that canengage gears (503,402) to retract or resheath the outercatheter in relation to the prosthesis. In some embodiments, the deliverydevice may include a reinforced outer sheath (3300)disposed over an inner elongate member, the reinforced outer sheath comprisinga proximal section (3301) reinforced with a braid, adistal section (3302) reinforced with a coil and an overlapping (3303) sectionextending between the proximal section and the distalsection. Additionally or alternatively, the delivery device may include astabilizing element (290) for releasably holding thestent (301) to the inner catheter.
