There is provided a drainage catheter system. The system includes an elongated tube having a substantially consistent cross-sectional size between a proximal end and a distal end. The tube has side walls defining a drainage lumen and the distal end of the tube is desirably closed. The tube further includes a plurality of holes in at least a portion of the side wall of the tube. These holes are provided along a length of the tube to define a drainage section of the catheter. The tube may include a hydrophilic coating on at least a portion of the exterior of the tube. The distal end of the tube may be tapered. The system also includes a head which is deployed outside the human body. The head is located on a proximal end of the tube and includes an opening to the drainage lumen of the tube.La présente invention concerne un système de cathéter de drainage. Le système selon linvention comprend un tube allongé ayant une section transversale de taille sensiblement régulière entre une extrémité proximale et une extrémité distale. Le tube comprend des parois latérales définissant une lumière de drainage et lextrémité distale du tube est de préférence fermée. Le tube comprend en outre une pluralité dorifices situés dans au moins une partie de la paroi latérale du tube. Ces orifices sont disposés sur une longueur du tube de sorte à définir une section de drainage du cathéter. Le tube peut comprendre un revêtement hydrophile sur au moins une partie de lextérieur du tube. Lextrémité distale du tube peut être conique. Le système comprend également une tête qui est déployée à lextérieur du corps humain. La tête est située sur une extrémité proximale du tube et comprend une ouverture vers la lumière de drainage du tube.
