PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice-growing plant adaptable to extreme area, such as desert.SOLUTION: The rice-growing plant comprises: a solar cell panel 7 provided on the roof of a factory building; a heat exchange device 6 for heat exchange with the outside air, the device being provided in the shade formed by the solar cell panel on the roof of the factory building; a body of the factory building provided under the ground; and a plant cultivation device 10 provided in a closed type cultivation room. An artificial light source 15 is provided with spectral emission characteristics and temporal luminescence characteristics, which are controlled in an enclosed space, and applies LED light to the side face of rice through a light guide plate 16 provided in the same direction as the growing direction of the rice.
