The pad incorporates exfoliating elements (4, 34, 34, 44) distributed at intervals or in a layer between a first fibre layer (2, 22, 32, 42) and a second fibre layer (6, 26, 36, 36, 46) of lighter weight than the first layer. The first layer can be made from cotton, viscose or polymer fibres, or a mixture of these. The second layer can be made from similar fibres and can include linen and China grass fibres. The pad incorporates exfoliating elements (4, 34, 34, 44) distributed at intervals or in a layer between a first fibre layer (2, 22, 32, 42) and a second fibre layer (6, 26, 36, 36, 46) of lighter weight than the first layer. The first layer can be made from cotton, viscose or polymer fibres, or a mixture of these, preferably formed on a Rando Webber machine to position the fibres at a given angle. The second layer can be made from similar fibres and can include linen and China grass fibres. The fibres can be joined by hydraulic or mechanical bonding or thermo-fusion. The exfoliating elements can be made from natural or synthetic materials, including cellulose, methyl cellulose or silica balls.
