PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image diagnostic device and a portable recording medium, for automatically activating or not automatically activating an image viewing application 43 corresponding to the purpose of using a device for reading the portable recording medium.SOLUTION: In an image provision system 1 for providing an image 41 and the image viewing application 43 from the image diagnostic device 2 to a reader 3 through the portable recording medium M1, the image diagnostic device 2 records an automatic activation determination program 44 for determining whether or not to permit the automatic activation of the image viewing application 43 corresponding to the purpose of use on the side of the reader 3 in the portable recording medium M1. Thus, when reading the contents of the portable recording medium M1 in the reader 3, the purpose of use of the reader 3 is determined, and the automatic activation of the image viewing application 43 is permitted or not permitted.
