The subject of the present invention is a method for debudding and cutting into segments parent vine shoots or other wood (trees), characterised in that it consists in bringing the buds of the shoot near to or against a heat source so as to be destroyed there. The installation for implementing the method comprises, along a path of advance of the shoot, at least one means (1) for propelling the shoot along the path and at least one heat source (2) against or near which the buds of the shoot are brought when they pass along the path. <IMAGE>
