Disclosed herein is an extraction method for increasing liquiritigenin content in Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma or Glycyrrhizae radix extract, the method comprises: using water, an organic solvent, or a mixed solvent of water and the organic solvent to Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma to extract a product containing liquiritin (Step 1)； and introducing water, an organic solvent, or a mixed solvent of water and the organic solvent into the product containing liquiritin extracted in Step 1, adding acid or base into the solution, and hydrolyzing the mixture to prepare a product containing liquiritigenin (Step 2).본 발명은 감초에 물, 유기용매 또는 물과 유기용매의 혼합용매를 이용하여 리퀴리틴이 함유된 생성물을 추출하는 단계(단계 1)； 및 상기 단계 1에서 추출된 리퀴리틴이 함유된 생성물에 물, 유기용매 또는 물과 유기용매의 혼합용매를 넣고 산 또는 염기를 첨가하여 가수분해시켜 리퀴리티게닌이 함유된 생성물을 제조하는 단계(단계 2)를 포함하는 감초 또는 감초 추출물에서의 개선된 리퀴리티게닌의 추출 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 방법은 고가의 용매가 필요하지 않으며, 컬럼 크로마토그래피의 공정도 생략할 수 있어 단계를 간소화시키면서, 종래보다 높은 함량(약 8~23%)의 리퀴리티게닌을 함유하는 추출물을 얻을 수 있으므로, 리퀴리티게닌 추출시 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
