PURPOSE: A composition containing Chamaecyparis obtuse essential oil extract, compound isolated from the extract for hair growth is provided to be used in a pharmaceutical or cosmetic composition for hair growth without side effects. CONSTITUTION: A composition for hair growth contains Chamaecyparis obtusa essential oil extract or fraction thereof as an active ingredient. The essential oil extract is isolated by steam distillation. The fraction is performed by hexane or ethyl acetate solvent. The fraction is CH-HE-1-6, CH-HE-1-7, CH-HE-2-A,CH-HE-2-B,CH-HE-2-C, CH-HE-2-D,CH-HE-2-E, CH-HE-2-F, or CHHE-2-G. The composition is manufactured in the form of topical application type formulation.
