A livestock handling device 10 comprises a first frame member configured to define a space into which one or more animals are to be received on a floor surface, a second frame member 20 mounted to said first frame member and movable between a first position and a second position, the second frame member 20 having a base portion configured to be positioned substantially on or adjacent to the floor surface when the second frame member 20 is in the first position, and configured to be positioned remote from the floor surface when the second frame member 20 is in the second position. The base portion is configured such that when the second frame member 20 is in the second position, the one or more animals received on the floor surface are elevated above the floor surface by the base portion. The base portion comprises at least two rail members 25 and a plurality of cross-bar members 28 connected to each rail member 25 by a flexible link 27.
