The invention relates to methods for providing palliative care. Specifically, methods for treating patients having an end-stage disease, such as cancer, comprising administering an effective amount of AVR118 are disclosed. Pharmaceutical compositions and kits comprising AVR118, an additional medicament, and pharmaceutically acceptable carriers are also disclosed. The disclosed methods are useful for treating cachexia and/or improving the quality of life in patients near the end of life.
