Infusion systems, infusion devices, and associated methods of operation are provided. An exemplary method of operating an infusion device capable of delivering fluid to a user obtains a first measurement indicative of the user's physiological state from a first sensing configuration and indicates the user's second state. A control system associated with the infusion device that acquires one or more measurements from the second sensing configuration is included. The control system classifies the second state as corresponding to one of the plurality of intensity levels based at least in part on the one or more measurements, and is subsequently affected by the intensity level classification.
