PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal emulsion-type composition having a decreased content of an oily material as an external preparation for skin or a skin cosmetic, having an enhanced moisture-retaining performance and temperature stability as a base material, excellent in usability (a touch), and having a lamellar structure.SOLUTION: This liquid crystal emulsion-type composition contains a solid higher alcohol insoluble in the oily material, a solid fatty acid insoluble in the oily material, the oily material, a lipophilic nonionic surfactant, a hydrophilic nonionic surfactant, a water-soluble polyhydric alcohol not miscible with the oily material, an amino acid, and water.
