PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elastase inhibitor and a skin external preparation or a cosmetic containing the elastase inhibitor as an active ingredient.SOLUTION: The elastase inhibitor includes, as an active ingredient, an extract of one or more plants selected from the group of plants belonging to the genus Blechnum in the family Blechnaceae and the genus Polystichum in the family Dryopteridaceae. The skin external preparation or the cosmetic contains the same. The elastase inhibitor inhibits the decomposition of elastin of a dermal extracellular matrix-constituting component to maintain dermal homeostasis and accordingly is useful in preventing and improving the change in skin external appearance such as the deterioration of skin elasticity, the disappearance of texture, sagging, and dark spots. Further, the elastase inhibitor is useful in preventing and improving the condition of atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and the like which are caused by the decomposition of elastin fibers by elastase. Furthermore, elastase has the possibility of taking part in hair-follicle formation, and accordingly the elastase inhibitor is also useful for controlling hair growth and hair restoration.COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT【課題】エラスターゼ阻害剤および該エラスターゼ阻害剤を有効成分として含有する皮膚外用剤又は化粧料を提供すること。【解決手段】シダ目シシガシラ科(Blechnaceae)ヒリュウシダ属(Blechnum)及びオシダ科(Dryopteridaceae)イノデ属(Polystichum)に属する植物の群から選ばれる一種又は二種以上の植物の抽出物を有効成分とするエラスターゼ阻害剤、及びそれを含有する皮膚外用剤もしくは化粧料。当該エラスターゼ阻害剤は、真皮細胞外マトリックス構成成分であるエラスチンの分解を抑制し、真皮恒常性を維持するため、皮膚弾力性の低下やキメの消失、たるみやくすみといった皮膚外観変化の防止改善に有用である。また、本発明のエラスターゼ阻害剤は、エラスチン線維のエラスターゼによる分解を原因とするアテローム性動脈硬化、リュウマチ性関節炎等などの病態を予防改善するのにも有用である。さらに、エラスターゼは毛包形成に関与している可能性があるので、本発明のエラスターゼ阻害剤は、発毛及び育毛を抑制するのにも有用である。【選択図】なし
