The present disclosure refers to heptyl glucoside included, as a naturalsolubilizer and as a skinpenetration enhancer, in transdermal pharmaceutical compositions. Heptylglucoside is a naturalalkyl glycoside and a hydrotrope that improves solubility of activepharmaceutical ingredients(APIs), thereby enhancing skin permeability to APIs. Transdermalpharmaceutical compositionsincluding heptyl glucoside allow lower APIs dosage requirements. Heptylglucoside can becombined with at least one API and suitable ingredients to formulatetransdermal pharmaceuticalcompositions with improved skin permeability, thereby promoting percutaneousabsorption ofAPIs. Transdermal pharmaceutical compositions including heptyl glucoside canbe formulated ina plurality of dosage forms, such as, a liquid, cream, paste, gel, lotion,patch (e.g., matrix andreservoir), tape, film former (e.g., plaster), and the like.
