PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a keratometer, capable of quantitatively evaluating the shape of a cornea having irregular astigmatism.

SOLUTION: The keratometer comprises an alignment light source provided on an optical axis, a kerato-light source to project a circle of or a plurality of dots of light around the optical axis, a projection optical system to project light from the alignment light source and the kerato-light source to the cornea, an observation optical system to observe a reflection image of projected light from the cornea, a photographic element to photograph the reflection image observed by the observation optical system, and a computation device to compute the degree of irregular astigmatism of a sample eye based on the reflection image photographed by the photographic element. The computation device computes the first degree of irregular astigmatism based on deviation between coordinates values (eX, eY) of the center of an oval obtained by oval approximation of the reflection image of the light from the kerato-light source and coordinates values (CX, CY) of the reflection image of the light from the alignment light source.
