PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an estimating method by which the health condition of a patient can highly precisely be evaluated from nutrition evaluation items (biochemical examination values) of the patient.SOLUTION: In this method for evaluating the health condition of the patient, (A) at the starting of a nutrition management, the hematocrit which is the biochemical examination value of the patient, the urea nitrogen concentration in blood, the albumin concentration in blood, and the zinc concentration in blood are measured. Also, (B) an SPI (simple prognosis index) value is calculated by respectively substituting each biochemical examination value having been measured in the following formula (1) SPI=a0+a1×Hct+a2×BUN+a3×ALB+a4×Zn (in formula (1), a0, a1, a2, a3 and a4 are partial regression coefficients which are obtained by performing a linear multiple regression analysis).
