PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition which can be suitably used for gently and mildly washing a material to be washed without excessively taking away an oil therefrom and having excellent finger combing during rinsing after washing and excellent smoothness, dry feeling, no stiffness etc., after drying.SOLUTION: The detergent composition comprises a copolymer containing a constituent unit corresponding to a cationic vinyl monomer (A) and a constituent unit corresponding to a specific vinyl monomer (B) having a hydroxy group or an amide bond and a specified anionic surfactant (D).
