A method and composition for treating viral infections using a combination of naturally occurring compounds is provided. The method includes administering to a patient at risk of or diagnosed with a viral infection a composition including therapeutically effective amounts of a helicase ATPase inhibitor, a sialidase enzyme inhibitor, an ICAM-1 inhibitor and gallic acid which each also down regulate the immune response.
