A colored yarn object which, even when made of ultrahigh-molecular polyethylene,can be satisfactorily prevented from suffering crocking caused by, e.g., contactwith other object, and which can be easily produced at low cost and can retain highstrength. The yarn object has been colored with a colorant. It comprises a coreyarn (2) colored with a given colorant and an outer-layer yarn (3) disposed onthe periphery thereof. The outer-layer yarn (3) is disposed so as to prevent thecore yarn (2) from coming into contact with other object. The outer-layer yarn(3) comprises a transparent filament and is disposed so as to leave a space (4)between adjacent parts of the outer-layer yarn (3). The color imparted to thecore yarn (2) can be seen externally through the transparent outer-layer yarn(3) and the space (4).
