摘要:
An apparatus connected to operate a balloon system that allows in-vivo calibration of a blood pressure sensor (40) associated with a balloon (10) of the balloon system, the sensor (40) and the balloon (10) are associated so that the sensor (40) is in-vivo when the balloon (10) is in-vivo, and where the blood pressure sensor (40) is a fiber optic pressure sensor, the apparatus comprises: means (26 ) to inflate the balloon (10) to a target displacement volume so that a gas pressure in the balloon system is indicative of the patient's blood pressure; means (25) for monitoring the patient's blood pressure by observing the gas pressure in the balloon (10) while simultaneously monitoring the patient's blood pressure through the sensor; and means for using blood pressure readings obtained by monitoring gas pressure as blood pressure reference measurements and determining a mathematical relationship between blood pressure measurements obtained through the sensor (40) and blood pressure reference measurements of so that future blood pressure measurements obtained through the sensor (40) can be modified according to the mathematical relationship to generate calibrated blood pressure measurements, characterized by: - that the means (26) for inflating the balloon to the target displacement volume employs Boyle's law to determine the volume of target displacement; - that the means for monitoring include means for recording a pressure signal generated by a gas pressure sensor (25) and a pressure signal generated by the blood pressure sensor (40), and the means for using blood pressure readings include means for filtering the pressure signal generated by the blood pressure sensor (40) to generate a filtered signal, wherein the means for filtering include a filter that simulates the effect of the balloon system configuration on the reflected gas pressure in the pressure signal generated by the gas pressure sensor (25); and - by means to correlate the filtered signal and the pressur
