The present invention provides for the use of a sulfonylamide compound or a derivative thereof in the preparation of a medicament for treating and preventing infections caused by bacteria, in which the bacteria are selected from the group consisting of bacteria having a type II enzyme acetohydroxy acid synthase and bacteria having a type III enzyme acetohydroxy acid synthase. The invention further provides the corresponding sulfonylamide compounds or derivatives thereof.La présente invention concerne lutilisation dun composé sulfonylamide ou dun dérivé de celui-ci, dans la préparation dun médicament pour le traitement et la prévention dinfections provoquées par des bactéries, dans lesquelles les bactéries sont choisies parmi le groupe consistant en des bactérie ayant une enzyme acétohydroxy acide synthase de type II et des bactéries ayant une enzyme acétohydroxy acide synthase de type III. Linvention concerne en outre les composés sulfonylamides correspondants ou leurs dérivés.
