The present invention relates to a fall detection apparatus and a method thereof. The fall detection apparatus comprises: a photographing unit which obtains an image for a photographing area and a monitoring module which represents a dynamic object existing within an image as an operation area bounding box, and recognizes the variation in the size of the operation area bounding box by using an operation line and a reference line to monitor the fall detection of the dynamic object.본 발명은 낙상 검출 장치 및 그 방법에 관한 것으로, 촬영 영역에 대한 영상을 획득하는 촬영부 및 상기 촬영부를 통해 획득한 영상 내에 동적 객체가 출현하면, 영상 내에 존재하는 동적 객체를 동작 영역 바운딩 박스(Bounding Box)로 표현하고, 동작 영역 바운딩 박스의 크기 변화를 동작선과 기준선을 이용하여 파악하여 동적 객체의 낙상 발생을 감시하는 감시 모듈을 포함하는 낙상 검출 장치 및 그 방법을 제공한다.
