The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition which is used for treating or preventing periodontal diseases and contains, as an active ingredient, an inhibitor of purine receptor P2X4. According to the present invention, it has been found that P2X4, P2X7, and pannexin-1 activate caspase-1 by forming a composite, and induce inflammation via secretion of inflammatory cytokines in gingival epithelial cells infected by gingival pathogen. Accordingly, the composition of the present invention can be effectively used for treating and preventing periodontal diseases accompanied by inflammation since the composition inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by means of the inhibitor of P2X4 receptor and also prevents inflammatory cytokine secretion. The composition also impedes formation of P2X4, P2X7, and pannexin-1.COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016본 발명은 퓨린수용체 P2X4의 저해제를 유효성분으로 함유하는 치주질환의 예방 또는 치료용 약학 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따르면, 치은상피세포에서 치은병원체 감염 시 P2X4, P2X7 및 파넥신-1은 복합체를 형성하여 카스파제-1을 활성화시키고 염증성 사이토카인의 분비를 통해 염증 반응을 유발함을 밝혀내었다. 따라서 본 발명은 P2X4 수용체 저해제를 이용하여 ROS 생성을 억제하고 염증성 사이토카인의 분비를 억제하며, P2X4, P2X7 및 파넥신-1의 복합체 형성을 저해함으로써 염증반응을 나타내는 치주질환의 예방 및 치료에 효과적으로 사용될 수 있다.
