A lighting system for use in a high-moisture environment, such as a swimmingpool,incudes a lighting unit having a housing and at least one light-emittingdevice positioned withinthe housing. A power supply provides power to the light-emitting device. Areceiver positionedwithin the housing operates with a LoRa modulation format and receives signalsat an ISM bandoperating frequency of substantially between 433.05-434.79 MHz (EU433). Amobile controlunit located remote from the lighting unit is configured to transmit at leastone wireless controlsignal to the receiver at a frequency between 433.05-434.79 MHz, whereby theat least onecontrol signal controls or changes a characteristic of the at least one light-emitting device, suchas an on/off state, a color, a lighting effect, or a pattern of display.Related systems and methodsfor installing a lighting system for use in a high-moisture environment arealso disclosed.
