PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glutathione production promoter including a novel active ingredient useful for increasing an amount of glutathione in a living body.SOLUTION: Piceatannol and/or scirpusin B which is a dimer of the piceatannol are used as active ingredients of a glutathione production promoter. The piceatannol and/or scirpusin B which is the dimer of the piceatannol may be chemically synthesized products or may be derived from natural products. Since, for example, the piceatannol and scirpusin B are abundantly contained in passion fruit seeds, their extracts may also be used.
