PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical instrument for ophthalmology, capable of suitably implanting a large graft while suppressing damages of the graft and burdens on a patient.SOLUTION: A surgical instrument includes: a handpiece to be held by an operator a suction nozzle for sucking a graft together with a prescribed fluid a discharge nozzle for discharging the graft together with the prescribed fluid, having a diameter smaller than the diameter of the suction nozzle a connection pipe for connecting the suction nozzle and the discharge nozzle and shifting the cross sectional shape of the flow path of the suction nozzle to the cross sectional shape of the flow path of the discharge nozzle a suction unit for sucking the graft from the suction nozzle together with the fluid and a discharge unit for discharging the graft from the discharge nozzle together with the fluid.
