PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorant base material having excellent deodorant function for various kinds of malodorous gas, which can be easily recovered by heating, the material being suitably fitted to various machines and implements.SOLUTION: The main body 2 of silicon carbide-based base material 1 is made by mixing silicon carbide powder as aggregate raw material, and silicon nitride powder and carbon as neck raw material, adding an organic binder, water, and the like to the mixture raw material powder to be mixed and kneaded, and firing the kneaded material after molding to be formed into a flat rectangular parallelepiped having a thickness of about 0.5 mm.
