A method and immunogenic composition for blocking transmission of a Plasmodium species via an Anopheles species. The immunogenic composition, containing a Fibrinogen-Related Protein 1 (FREP1) protein and/or an immunogenic portion thereof, is administered to a mammalian (e.g., human) or avian subject, causing formation of anti-FREPl antibodies in the subject, wherein the anti-FREPl antibodies, when consumed by an Anophelese mosquito from blood obtained from the mammalian (e.g., human) or avian subject, prevent or inhibit the infection of the Anopheles mosquito by the Plasmodium species for stopping malaria transmission.Linvention concerne un procédé et une composition immunogène pour bloquer la transmission dune espèce de Plasmodium par lintermédiaire dune espèce dAnopheles. La composition immunogène, contenant une protéine de type protéine 1 associée au fibrinogène (FREP1) et/ou une partie immunogène correspondante, est administrée à un sujet mammifère (par exemple un être humain) ou aviaire, ce qui provoque la formation danticorps anti-FREP1 chez le sujet, les anticorps anti-FREP1, lorsquils sont consommés par un moustique Anopheles du sang obtenu du sujet mammifère (par exemple un être humain) ou aviaire, empêchant ou inhibant linfection du moustique Anopheles par lespèce Plasmodium pour arrêter la transmission de la malaria.
