A cosmetic composition comprising a hydrophobic fumed silica, a surfactant (A) chosen from alkyl (ether)sulfates containing 8-18 carbons in the alkyl chain and 1-6 ethylene oxide units, 12-18C acyl isethionates, 12-18C acyl sarcosinates, and 10-22C alkyl trimethyl ammonium chlorides, and another surfactant (B) chosen from 8-18C-alkylamido (1-4C alkyl)betaines, 10-18C alkyl amphoacetates and diacetates, 10-18C alkyl polyglucosides, N-[3-dimethylamino-(1-4C alkyl)]-12-18C alkanamides, and/or 12-18C olefin sulfonates, in a carrier. The composition is used for cleaning and conditioning keratin fibers e.g. hair to increase hair volume and durability.
