PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underpants type absorbent article capable of preventing leakage from a gap around a leg as well as uneasiness in terms of appearance while maintaining easiness of wearing and wearing feeling suitably.SOLUTION: An underpants type absorbent article 1 comprises an abdominal side sheet member, a back side sheet member, and an absorbent body. At both side parts of the absorbent body, the underpants type absorbent article has first leakage prevention cuffs 34 whose free ends are positioned inward from side edges of an absorber 33, and second leakage prevention cuffs 37 whose free ends extend outward from the side edges of the absorber 33. A surface sheet 31 and the first leakage prevention cuff 34 have folding-back parts 31c folded back from a skin facing surface side of the absorber 33 to a non-skin facing surface side. A sheet material 35 forming the first leakage prevention cuff 34 has an upper fixed part 35u fixed to the surface sheet 31 and a lower fixed part 35d fixed to a lower sheet, which are provided inward from the side edges on the non-skin facing surface side of the absorber 33.
