Provided are a method for elucidating a polynucleotide which is a novel gene responsible for cancer, and detecting the polynucleotide or the polypeptide coded thereby on the basis of this finding； a kit and primer set for this detection； a method for screening an inhibitor of the polypeptide； and a pharmaceutical composition for cancer treatment containing the inhibitor. In this detection method, a FGFR3 fusion protein or a fusion gene for encoding said fusion protein, or a TACC3 fusion protein or a fusion gene for encoding said fusion protein, is detected in a sample derived from female genitalia obtained from a subject.L'invention concerne: un procédé permettant d'élucider le fonctionnement d'un polynucléotide qui est un nouveau gène responsable du cancer, et de détecter ledit polynucléotide ou un polypeptide codé par celui-ci, sur base de la découverte； un ensemble d'amorces et un kit pour la détection； un procédé de criblage d'un inhibiteur du polypeptide； et une composition médicamenteuse pour le traitement du cancer, laquelle contient ledit inhibiteur. Plus spécifiquement, dans le procédé de cette invention, dans un échantillon provenant des organes génitaux féminins d'un sujet, sont détectés une protéine de fusion FGFR3 ou un gène de fusion codant pour cette protéine de fusion, ou alors une protéine de fusion TACC3 ou un gène de fusion codant pour cette protéine de fusion.がんの新たな原因遺伝子であるポリヌクレオチドを解明し、この知見に基づき、当該ポリヌクレオチド又はそれがコードするポリペプチドの検出方法、前記検出のためのキット及びプライマーセット、前記ポリペプチドの阻害物質のスクリーニング方法、並びに前記阻害物質を含有するがん治療用医薬組成物を提供する。 本発明の検出方法では、被験者から得た女性生殖器由来試料中の、ＦＧＦＲ３融合タンパク質又は該融合タンパク質をコードする融合遺伝子、あるいは、ＴＡＣＣ３融合タンパク質又は該融合タンパク質をコードする融合遺伝子を検出する。
