Disclosed is an isolated or substantially purified heparan sulphate capable of specifically binding a peptide or polypeptide consisting of the amino acid sequence YCKNGGF (SEQ ID NO:2) or GHFKDPKRLYCKNGGF (SEQ ID NO:1) characterised by the disaccharide composition following digestion with heparin lyases I, II, and III and then subjecting the resulting disaccharide fragments to capillary electrophoresis analysis. This heparan sulphate finds uses in wound healing and/or tissue repair, such as bone repair.
