GENETIC POLYMORPHISM ASSOCIATED WITH STROKE, THERAPY BASED ON THE DETECTION OF THE POLYMORPHISM AND USE OF KITS CONTAINING REAGENTS FOR DETECTING THE POLYMORPHISM
The present invention is based on the discovery of genetic polymorphisms that are associated with stroke. In particular, the present invention relates to methods of determining whether a human has an altered risk for stroke by detecting the presence of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs3900940 in the nucleic acid of an individual. The present invention further relates to therapeutic agents for use in methods of reducing the risk of stroke in a human based on the detection of said SNP, and to the use of a kit comprising a detection reagent capable of detecting the presence or absence of said SNP.
