The atherectomy catheter comprises an elongated catheter body, a cutter at the distal end of the catheter body, and a nose cone attached to the distal end of the catheter body. The cutter is configured to ablate tissue from the body. The nosecone is configured to hold the tissue resected from the cutter. The nose cone includes a distal section, a proximal section, and a connection mechanism configured to allow the distal section to be attached and removed relative to the proximal section during use.
