The present invention relates to a method for determining if a surface of an object has wicking properties in a given time range. The method includes the steps of providing a surface to be tested and contacting it with a liquid while observing for the given time range if liquid is transferred to the surface in a direction having at least a component which is opposite to the gravitational force.
