According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, an absorbent article is disclosed that is capable of indicating the presence or absence of urine as well as impending leakage of urine. The absorbent article includes a substantially liquid impervious layer, a liquid permeable layer, and an absorbent core positioned between the substantially liquid impervious layer and the liquid permeable layer. A plurality of sensors are incorporated into the absorbent article across the width of the article and the sensor is positioned to fluidly communicate with the urine when the urine is provided by the absorbent article wearer. At least one of the sensors includes a pH indicator.
