The present invention relates to novel chitosan-based conjugates, e.g. nanocarriers, comprising a derivative of the biocompatible polymer chitosan conjugated to a photosensitizing agent, and uses thereof in photochemical internalization (PCI) and photodynamic therapy (PDT).
