PURPOSE: A composition containing red ginseng extract is provided to reduce side effects of ototoxic drug-induced vestibular dysfunction and to treat infectious diseases. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating ototoxic drug-induced vestibular dysfunction contains red ginseng extract as an active ingredient. The extract is prepared using water, low carbon number alcohol of 1-4 carbon atoms, or a mixture solvent thereof. The ototoxic drug is antibiotics, anticancer drug, or diuretic. The antibiotics include streptomycin, kanamycin, gentamycin, neomycin, amikacin, tobramycin, or netilmycin. An aid for suppressing the side effects of vestibular dysfunction-related antibiotics contains the extract as an active ingredient. A food composition for preventing or treating vestibular dysfunction contains the red ginseng extract as an active ingredient.본 발명은 홍삼 추출물을 포함하는 이독성 약물-유도 전정기능 손상 치료 또는 예방용 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 홍삼 추출물을 이용하여 아미노글리코사이드계 항생제와 같은 이독성 약물에 의하여 유도된 전정 기능 손상 부작용을 감소시킬 수 있으므로, 결핵, 심부감염 등과 같이 이독성을 가지는 아미노글리코사이드계 항생제를 장기간 투여하는 것이 불가피한 경우에도 안정적으로 항생제를 투여하여 감염성 질환을 치료할 수 있다. 또한, 이독성 약물로 알려져 있는 항암제의 부작용도 감소시킬 수 있으며, 전정신경염과 같은 원인이 밝혀지지 않은 전정 기능 손상도 치료 및 예방할 수 있다.
