A light source apparatus includes first and second semiconductor light-emitting devices, first and second light amount detection sections having mutually identical detection ranges and configured to detect amounts of light emission of the first and second semiconductor light-emitting devices respectively, a light amount limiting unit that includes at least one of a first light amount limiting section that limits a light amount of the first light incident from the first semiconductor light-emitting device upon the first light amount detection section and a second light amount limiting section that limits a light amount of the second light incident from the second semiconductor light-emitting device upon the second light amount detection section in order to cause the first and second light amounts which are maximum light amounts used of the first and second semiconductor light-emitting devices to match a predetermined value within the detection range, and a control section that controls the amount of light emission of the first semiconductor light-emitting device and the second semiconductor light-emitting device based on detection results of the first and second light amount detection sections.
