The subject matter of the invention is a tool (12) for a spinal implant, with a rod-like lever-rotator (42) and a handle (44) attached thereto, wherein the lever-rotator (42) has a number of teeth (46) distributed over the circumference at the distal end thereof and wherein each tooth (46) is aligned coaxially. Developing a tool such that the spinal implant can be implanted and distracted in a simple and precise fashion is achieved by virtue of the fact that each tooth (46) is embodied to be so long that it can simultaneously engage into a corresponding wall tooth (28) of a first lever receptacle (26) and into a corresponding wall tooth (32) of a second lever receptacle (30) of the spinal implant (10).
