The purpose of the present invention is to provide a hair coloring method in which, when hair dyeing is carried out, color retention is improved and due to not involving the use of para-phenylenediamine, damage to hair is unlikely and skin disorders can be reduced. This hair coloring method is characterized by including a step for applying a mixture obtained by mixing prescribed proportions of: (A) a hair coloring agent, which contains at least a basic dye, a HC dye, a second amino acid, a first cationic surfactant, a thickening agent, an oil agent, a first pH-adjusting agent and a wetting agent and which has a pH of 6.8 or more； and (B) a hair cosmetic that contains at least an alkaline agent, a first amino acid, a higher alcohol having 12-22 carbon atoms, a surfactant and a thickening agent.
