A system for moving a patient onto a medical apparatus, such as a treatment and/or imaging device comprises a patient support 12 with a first plurality of guides 20a-d, a table 14 with a second plurality of guides 24a-d, and a bed 16 which is moveable between the two, wherein the spacing between a pair of the first guides 20a-d is greater than the spacing between a pair of the second guides 24a-d. The bed is positioned on the table such that no movement in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction, e.g. laterally, is allowed. A first pair 20d of the first plurality of guides may be positioned at a first displacement from an upper surface of the patient support, different to the other pairs 20a-c. The bed may comprise one or more protrusions 22 at a height corresponding to said first displacement. The medical apparatus may comprise a radiotherapy system and/or an MRI system.
