A cutting tool, particularly hedge shears and comprising a first elongated handle member (1), a second elongated handle member (2) pivotally connected to the first handle member (1) at a first pivot point (10), a first blade member (5) having a cutting edge and being pivotally connected to the first handle member (1) at a second pivot point (7), a second blade member (6) having a cutting edge and being pivotally connected to the second handle member (2) at a third pivot point (8), the first and the second blade members (5,6) being pivotally connected to each other at a fourth pivot point (9), the blade members (5,6) being turnable relative to the fourth pivot point (9) so that their cutting edges move in a scissor-like manner between an open and a closed position, the first, second and third and fourth pivot points (10,7,8,9) forming a quadrangle in which an angle the vertex of which is formed by the first pivot point (10) is approaching but not reaching 180 DEG when the blade members (5,6) are approaching their closed position and whereby the work done to close the shears creates a force which tends to close the blade members (5,6) and is the bigger the closer the blades are to their closed position.
