The present invention relates to a method for producing cannulas as well as cannulas that have been produced by applying the method. Furthermore the invention relates to a device which is suitable for producing cannulas by applying the method. The method relates to the production of a cannula from a hollow tube segment (1) comprising an oblique penetrating end which has a front penetrating part and a rear opening part wherein the front penetrating part has a beveled surface which extends rearward from a penetrating tip and has internal lateral edges and wherein the rear opening part has a beveled surface which extends rearward from the beveled surface of the front part and has internal lateral edges as well as a rounded rear edge (10 12) wherein the rounding of the rear edge (10 12) is made by electrochemical machining (ECM) in the presence of an electrolyte.
