PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which genetic polymorphism [single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)] associated with myocardial infarction is identified and inflammatory diseases, including the myocardial infarction are judged by utilizing the genetic polymorphism.SOLUTION: The method for judging the inflammatory diseases comprises detecting at least one kind of polymorphism in six SNPs present in a new gene MIAT (myocardial infarction associated transcript) having a specific base sequence and considered to encode an mRNA-like noncoded RNA.
