A bottom surveying device, including a float body 6 with an integral rechargeable wireless camera (fig 8), cooperating with a wireless onshore rechargeable transmitter/ receiver 8 which in turn cooperates with a mobile smart phone 7. The device is used in combination with a rod 2 having a line 4 with a lead sinker 5. The lead is able to run freely on the line until it comes to the end where the float is. In use, the combination is cast out and wound in until the float hits the lead on the body of water's bottom. Keeping a tight line the line is let out incrementally, counting until the float comes up. The count bears relation to the water body depth.
