The freezing needle includes an outer tube having a distal portion, the distal portion having a common central gas supply line located within the outer tube. The gas supply line supplies the freezing gas to form an ice ball on the outer surface of the outer tube over the distal portion. The gas supply line terminates in an expansion chamber located within the distal portion. The freezing needle includes a heat exchange spiral that contacts the inner surface of the outer tube.
